Ok, lets start with: it's not a cooking pot, it's not a banjo, it's not a guitar, it's pure FUN! (as its name means). This is the very young turkish instrument called Cumbus invented in the late 20's early 30's. The Cumbus is a fairly cheap (around $150 in the US), it's a sturdy thing and pretty hard to play. The cool thing is that it could use almost any oud tuning and it's fretless. It works ok to study the oud on, and right now I use it as a kind of poor mans oud. I'm playing the ancient arabic song Lamma Bada Yatathanna. My technique is not perfect, but I'm working on it........
